Private Tea Ceremony

PRIVATE TEA CEREMONY AT THE TUSHITA GALLERY

You can choose between two tea rituals: the Japanese Chanoyu or the Chinese Gongfu Cha.

The Tushita Gallery is an oasis of calm in the middle of Munich's bustling Glockenbachviertel.

We invite you to book a private tea tasting or ceremony for a variety of occasions – as a company event, birthday, or wedding gift.

When we drink tea together, we meet as human beings and experience harmony, respect, purity, and tranquility – just like many generations before us.

As a ritual act, tea ceremonies make it possible to connect with tradition in a very real way and to experience philosophy with one's own body.

“Inspired by traditional tea houses, the Tushita Gallery was specially designed for tea rituals. For ceremonies, the room is laid out with tatami mats, and individual seat cushions are provided.”

GONGFU CHA — CHINESE TEA CEREMONY
Gongfu Cha

Gongfu Cha is a classic Chinese method of tea tasting. The tea is prepared in several successive infusions with special tools, such as lidded bowls, clay pots, and very small cups.

The focus of Gongfu Cha is not philosophy, but to experience tea with all senses and to enjoy the time spent together.

CHANOYU — JAPANESE TEA CEREMONY
Chanoyu

The Japanese tea ceremony, also called Chado or Sado, is a traditional, ritualized form of tea preparation. The tea used in the ceremony is always matcha, prepared either as koicha (strong tea) or usucha (light tea).

Our hostess Aya, an experienced practitioner of the Urasenke school, prepares the matcha in traditional kimono and with antique tea utensils. A sweet is served with it.

Private ceremonies last 1.5 to 2.5 hours, depending on the number of participants.
