OUR STORY
Founded over 17 years ago, Tushita Teahouse has become an established, tranquil fixture in Munich's Glockenbachviertel. What began as a small teahouse has grown into a place dedicated to high-quality tea, cultural exchange, and mindful experiences.
Thanks to the support of our long-standing guests and our community, Tushita has evolved into a meeting place for all who appreciate tea, matcha, and the traditions surrounding them — complemented by carefully selected vegan offerings that round out the teahouse experience.
Today, Tushita combines a tea shop, a teahouse, and a space for cultural experiences. Whether online or on-site — we invite our guests to discover tea with curiosity, respect, and the necessary time.
At Tushita, it's not just about tea — it's about the space that tea creates.

Om Helenkamp & Sandeh Von Tucher
Founders of the Tushita Teahouse
Om and Sandeh bring over three decades of experience in Japanese interior architecture, landscape design, and cross-cultural spatial design. Their long-standing, wide-ranging engagement with Asian cultures has given them a deep understanding of aesthetics, ritual, and space — knowledge that continues to shape every detail of our teahouse and gallery today, from the design of the rooms to the selection of teas, food, and tableware.

TEA AT TUSHITA
At the heart of Tushita is the tea itself. Our selection is based on long-standing relationships with trusted tea gardens and producers, primarily in Asia. Each tea is chosen for its character and distinctiveness — reflecting its origin, cultivation, and season. As we firmly believe in organic farming, our entire tea range is organic-certified (DE-ÖKO-006).
The tea at Tushita is prepared with the utmost care by our experienced baristas. Whether served traditionally or in a contemporary form — our preparation honors both the raw materials and the shared moment.
SHOP NOWTHE TEAHOUSE
The Tushita Teahouse is a place to pause. It offers a calm, open atmosphere where guests can experience tea beyond the cup. Through tea tastings, ceremonies, or simply sharing time together, tea becomes a bridge — to tradition, to tea culture, and to each other.
The Tushita Teahouse does not see itself as a café in the conventional sense, but as a space for mindfully spent time. In addition to tea, our seasonal, vegan offerings complement the experience without distracting from its essence. Since organically grown ingredients are particularly important to us, we are proud of our organic certification (D-BY-006-45263-BC).
TEA, CULTURE, AND EXPERIENCE
Tushita has become a cultural space entirely dedicated to tea. In ceremonies, workshops, sound experiences, flute concerts, exhibitions, and other gatherings, we explore the art of tea as part of a refined everyday culture.
Our events draw primarily from Asian tea traditions while remaining contemporary and accessible. Guests are invited to engage mindfully with tea — accompanied by sound, movement, art, and community.
